說到這兩人的關係其實滿微妙的，雖然大家最熟知的兩人關係主要是因為Hailey，
但其實兩人的開端反倒是....
Bieber於2015年9月出現在WPLJ-FM廣播中，宣傳當時的歌曲“What do you mean？”。
當時，Shawn因為“史迪奇”的首演而使音樂事業蓬勃發展。
當主持人與Justin提及這位冉冉升起的新星時，Justin回答說：“誰是Shawn Mendes?？”🤔
幾天後，Shawn告訴BBC電台1：“我們還沒見面，但我想他只是不認識我。”😬
